Taylor Swift (born 1989) is an American singer-songwriter. At age 14, she signed with Big Machine Records to pursue country music, becoming the youngest songwriter ever hired by Sony/ATV music publishing house. Swift's self-titled debut album was released in 2006, solidifying her as a country artist. In 2008, Swift was nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards. Her second album, 'Fearless', became the best selling album of 2009. The album won four Grammy Awards, making Swift the youngest recipient ever of the Album of the Year award. Swift's third & fourth albums noted her transition to Pop music, & each sold over one million copies in their first weeks of US release. Her fifth, pop-focused album, '1989', sold more copies in its opening week than any album in the previous twelve years, & made Swift the first artist to have three albums sell more than one million copies in a week. Swift has received seven Grammy Awards, twelve Billboard Music Awards, eleven Country Music Association Awards, & seven Academy of Country Music Awards.
