AIDA
Aida is an opera in four acts by Giuseppe Verdi to an Italian libretto by Antonio Ghislanzoni, based on a scenario written by French Egyptologist Auguste Mariette. It was first performed in1871. The plot centres around Aida, an Ethiopian princess, who is captured & brought into slavery in Egypt. A military commander, Radames, struggles to choose between his love for her & his loyalty to the Pharaoh. This critically acclaimed production by Opus Arte was recorded at the Gran Teatre dei Liceu in July 2003, directed by José Antonio Gutiérrez & conducted by Miguel Ángel Gómez Martínez
