'Orphans' (1997) is a hard hitting film about a group of recently bereaved siblings rampaging through the streets of Glasgow. Held up for two years before Festival successes, notably Venice, assured it of critical if not commercial acclaim, 'Orphans' from director Peter Mullan ('My Name is Joe') is an uneasy blend of black humour and darker violence. The narrative is enhanced by acclaimed composer Craig Armstrong who scores the film and provides the main theme 'Orphans'.
